Tag McLaren Audio (TMA) was founded in 1997 with the aim of developing the best audio and video electronic devices in the world.
Audiolab was purchased in 1998 as an entry into the hi-Fi business.
In order to realize this vision, TMA was able to build on an experienced development team with many years of experience in F1 racing combined with specialists from the Hi-fi industry.
With the dot-com bubble at the beginning of 2000 and the accompanying economic slump, TMA stopped further development in 2003 and the Mclaren parent company separated from Tag McLaren Audio in 2004 as a result of restructuring and focusing on racing. As a result of this restructuring, TMA was sold to the International Audio Group (IAG). From then on, IAG carried out the service for existing TMA customers for a limited period of time.
With the sale, the Audiolab brand will also be transferred to IAG. Based on the TMA products, a reduced Audiolab product line was launched. In appearance, this again followed the typical, simple Audiolab design.
