The entry into the Luxman luxury class of the integrated amplifier family was heralded in 1981 by the 510.
Here is the slightly larger brother L-525.
Stereo integrated amplifier with Duo Beta circuit. Test in Stereoplay top class 1,very good Phono MM input, with Phono MC even reference in the SK1. At the time, it was probably the best-selling top model of the Luxman top models in Germany. Maximum power output at 8 ohms is specified at 130 watts. Pre-power amplifier can be disconnected via a switch on the back. Phono Staight function by means of a switch on the front(with optical display), illuminated LS control(Alps potentiometer).
Wooden case with rosewood veneer, front champagne brushed and high gloss. The large knobs are also brushed and shiny. Other models are also champagne-colored, but matte.
Later recommended by Stereoplay in combination with the Ecouton LQL 150 as particularly musical.
The Luxman 525 has a completely different design than the L 510 and L 530 models and also sounds different. It plays more open and fresh with more pressure and dynamics and was also specified by Luxman as load stable at 2 ohms. It is rather an improved L 430 in terms of construction and can clearly stand out from the L 510/530. It is the more advanced device with the better sound. Only the L 560 was located one level higher at the time and was classified by Stereoplay in the absolute top class(together with Accuphase E 305). If you have a Luxman L 525 integrated amplifier in good condition, you should think carefully about disconnecting from it. Such a nice, very good sounding device with this equipment is not so easy to find again.
It should be mentioned that the Luxman is DEFINITELY NOT A CLASS A amplifier, contrary to many statements. Not with 8 watts or 15 watts or whatever. It is a classic AB amplifier.
