there Are as SL-QD33R also with a connection for the Tech nics-remote control (3.5 mm Jack), for example, a suitably equipped Receiver or amplifier from Tech nics is controlled.
The Tech nics SL-QD33 is a very elegant, solidly manufactured and very easy to use device. Because of the T4P pickup, the usual settings that are necessary for pickups with an SME connection of a headshell are omitted. It is enough to set the support weight (1.25 g) correctly.
Since the device does not have a built-in preamplifier, an amplifier is required for connection, which has its own phono input (MM/MC) with RCA connection. If the amplifier only has a normal RCA input, you can, however, switch a small phono preamplifier in between (something like this is available from about 40 €). More expensive phono preamplifiers, such as the NAD PP3I, even allow the records to be digitized via a USB port on a PC.
It is important that the turntable is always connected to the amplifier or phono preamplifier with the ground cable, so that no humming sound is produced. The grounding cable was standard equipment on the new devices! If this cable is missing from a used device, you can find a replacement for it on the Internet (about 8 € to 10 €). Good used SL-QD33 are already available on ebay for just under € 100. In terms of quality, they are far superior to today's new devices in the price range of € 150 to € 200.
