The ATR 60 is built in such a way that the drive and the electronic are located in two separate chassis (2-piece). This modular design allows the tape drive and electronics to be mounted in a standard 19-inch ELA device cabinet, in a portable 19-inch rack or in a mounting console such as the TASC AM CS-65 or CS-650, CS-607 and CS-702 + 704
The drive of the ATR-60 is an exceptionally reliable professional construction. It is built on an extra heavy chassis, which guarantees stable adjustment and the most accurate belt running. The robust design of the drive minimizes maintenance. The microprocessor control guarantees smooth, fast and accurate belt running by controlling the two direct-driven coil motors and the phase-locked loop Capstan motor.
Even when synchronizing with other audio drives, film scanners or video systems, the ATR-60 has enough torque and accuracy to be able to keep up with fast switching operation.
Furthermore, the mechanical and electrical drive design protects the belt from "stretching" and other loads, even during long hours in start/stop operation and fast switching.
The electronics of the ATR-60 are built on pluggable printed circuits for easy service. The VU-Meter front panel can be swivelled out (to the front) for quick access to all the trim controls needed for routine balancing. This method also makes it possible to observe the VU meters better during the calibration. The adjustment is just as easy to carry out in the vertical as in the horizontal position of the device.
