  • Report from "Tonband-Museum":
  • Details of the 40 series
  • The 40 series devices are designed for faster and more versatile production:
  • Manual, damp and stop editing options for fast and convenient editing (42B-dB)
  • 2 independent controls for input and output Output levels per channel. (42B-dB)
  • Monitor tracks or inputs as they are needed, using individual pre-load and recording selector switches plus output selector switches.
  • XLR sockets for inputs and outputs 600 ohm balanced.
  • Synchronous recording option. The 42 2-track machine can be used for 1-track overdubs.
  • Speedometer-controlled digital display with positive or negative real-time display.
  • An auto-loader controls a "searchto-cue" in both directions during fast rewinding.
  • Switching for input and output O-VU at -10dB and + 4dB (42 B-db).
  • A "return-to-zero" button acts as a second auto-locator and stops the tape at "00:00".
  • Speed adjustment: for +/-12%
  • Cue possibility with one hand.
  • Rear SMPTE connection option (accessory) carries TTL level and is compatible with the devices of Adam Smith, Audio Kinetics, BTX, Convergence, EECO, HD, TV, United Media and other well-known brands.
  • Retrofittable dbx noise reduction, dx4d, dx2d
  • The devices of the 40 series also include cutting-edge technology in electronics:
  • All amplifier stages are directly coupled in order to be able to achieve the lowest distortions and optimal frequency response even for very low frequencies.
  • The input amplifiers for the sync and playback heads contain extremely low-noise differential FET's for better pulse and phase behavior.
  • Eight different supply voltages including bipolar 15V for all audio levels offer optimal reliability.
  • VU-Meter plus peak LEDs allow a fast and accurate display of short high modulation peaks.
