With the description of "Ultra HiFi Professional Quartz Reference" was operated mainly Marketing. Technologically, the device was actually already outdated when it was launched on the market, since it builds on the previous model and tuners with digital tuning were introduced to the market from the beginning of the 80s. However, the tuner is tuned analogously with a rotary capacitor and also has a digital frequency display.
"Quartz Reference" refers only to the frequency display and that has nothing to do with a reference receiver, even if that was a top device then and is still good today.
The fact that there were sales problems is shown by the example of a device purchased in 1980. The list price should be 1500 DM, but the buyer paid 950 DM. Which was still a lot of money for many. For comparison, at that time you got a whole HiFi tower at Quelle for 700 DM with inexpensive devices, often called "scrap devices".
Many of the receivers are still running today, but have various technical problems, often also with the frequency display of the tuner.
Can also be fixed in the event of incorrect displays or failure by simply replacing an 800 mA fuse. I was at e... a 9260 at auction, in which this was the case.
If the display shows incorrect data, the simple exchange of the backup is not sufficient at best. The entire display unit must be removed and disassembled. The electronics have two boards. These are connected by several solid metal pins. Remove them by simply pulling them out...clean...also the inner contacts, assemble...and everything runs like new in 99% of all cases!!!
Display error can also be due to the power supply board and the 4066 MOS switching IS error, just cured 2 Saba 9260.
