The name indicates the intended use and the equipment (Rear Speaker / Diamond, RSD), although it is a conventional, but extremely high-quality compact speaker. In this quality and price range, it is the first compact speaker from Myro .
The housing shape is adapted to the Myro Amur D /8, the base area is an octagon. The oblique side parts adjacent to the baffle reduce the diffraction of the sound at the baffle edge equal to a very large curvature (parabola). This linearizes the frequency response and ensures a better omnidirectional behavior. As with the Amur D/8, the housing tapers to the rear to avoid standing waves.
The Accuton C168 works in a relatively large volume and - unusually for a compact speaker - in a closed housing. In view of the parameters of the low midrange driver, it has been selected in such a way that a high-pass that is as flat as possible results with a very low installation quality and thus with a high damping of the resonant frequency. The highpass has a slope of only 7 - 8 dB / octave, i.e. from around 125 Hz the level drops with respect to the normal level with 7 - 8 dB / octave. This ensures a very flat phase frequency response in the bass range and thus a very good harmony with the front speakers. The time difference at low frequencies is correspondingly small. The Amur RSD thus harmonizes very well with the Myro Amur D . The concept keeps the option open to expand the Amur RSD with a bass module to a bass-strong floorstanding speaker.
