The device sounds excellent and is very powerful. Unfortunately, Pioneer has also installed all switches and potentiometers of the dust-open type in this price range, which becomes noticeable after a few years due to scratching or sound dropouts.
In practice, the device showed significantly higher performance. According to a test by Audio magazine, it had output powers of 105 watts at 8 ohms and 175 W at 4 ohms. I also think I know that 229 watts were also measured at 2 ohms in this test. However, since a 2Ohm indication for the sine power was not in the manual, I would enjoy this indication with caution.
According to technical documentation, load-stable up to 1 ohm, but without power specification (up to 300 watts?).
Pioneer A 702 R-G (G stands for satin gold): this device is very rare, the black one is more common. It is structurally identical to the A 602 R on the outside, inside it can be recognized by a much more complex power amplifier. Larger transformer, 8 transistors on the black heat sink, 18,000 electrolytic capacitors. It is the most powerful and largest remote-controlled Pioneer integrated amplifier I know so far. Not to be compared with the A 701 R or A 705 R, which are not so expensive. The input selector, which is often blessed with contact difficulties in old age, can be repaired by disassembling and cleaning.
