External differences from the A-858: golden dot on volume potentiometer, input and output selector switch. Inside: now vertically mounted boards, thus a clear view through the base plate, which no longer consists of copper, now also no honeycomb housing around the relay section and the RCA boards. No more type designations on the cast housings of the transformers. Output stages no longer with IC-controlled quiescent current regulation but with potentiometer, only 4 instead of 6 output stage transistors per channel (but more powerful). The PA 0016 IC from Pioneer im A-858 (for quiescent current control) is hardly available in the original anymore. This is the misunderstood evolution of the A-858. More durable in any case !!!
