Excerpt from brochure: Bose 901
The original BOSE 901 turned the Hi-Fi world upside down when it was introduced in 1968: a sensation! The experts were unanimously enthusiastic. The reverberation of this eruption still hits us today: there is no comparable direct + indirect radiating loudspeaker.
The first drivers had simple square magnets. However, they were soon replaced by larger, round ones, which lasted until the end of the construction period of the Series II. The membranes were gray-green.
The speakers include an equalizer with a power button.
The Series I can be recognized by the missing BOSE logo on the front of the speaker.<
The guy is still part of the Bose program in the USA today (August 2016).
The 901 was further developed first to the 901 Series II, in the meantime (2015) to the "901 Series VI" booth, see also link hifimuseum.de .
