The series is based on the very predecessor of the SU 8080 from 1977. In parallel, the 600 series was also offered ( SU-8600, SU-7600 etc.) The difference was enormous not only visually and from the technical data. The 600 series were less complex, innovative and also significantly cheaper. A SU-8600 cost about 350 US dollars in 1978 (with us RRP 1.300, - DM), an 8080 in 1977 already 460 US dollars and the 8088 cost a confident 600 US dollars in 1978. The top model of the SU-8099 was even at $ 1,000, a price region that Technics with integrated amplifiers did not reach for many years. Technics left the 70s behind early on with this amplifier series and helped to shape the standards for the beginning of the 80s. Excerpt from Prospectus: Technics SU-8 088 / SU-8099
