  • In addition to the A67, the STUDER B67 was developed as a new series of tape machines based on the drive of the ReVox A700. The Profi tape machine STUDER B67, B67 MK II, which was built in the period from 1975 to 1989 mainly for mobile use in transfer cars and studios. The exceptionally robust and service-friendly tape machine has three tape speeds, a VU meter unit according to NAB standard, an electronic real value counter and can accommodate coils up to 28.5 cm. As usual with STUDER, the audio boards of the STUDER B67 are also designed as pluggable print cards. The band tension control, which was completely redesigned at the time, is accessible from the front by opening the control panel, just like the parameter setting of the amplifiers.
  • The MKII can be recognized externally by the slightly further apart winding plates for the operation of longer belts and especially on small plastic webs, attached to the right and left respectively between the large and the small deflection roller.
  • The belt guidance of the STUDER B67 is exemplary: two large deflection pulleys on the right and left and one small pivotable deflection pulley each for controlling the belt pulls. The right large deflection roller – provided with a rubber ring in the belt guide – is used to control the digital counter, which, however, does not yet automatically adapt to the respective belt speed (9,5 – 19 – 38 cm / sec). The speed selection buttons on the STUDER B67 are located directly to the right of the counter. The most important buttons for operating the drive are located in the center: fast rewind and fast forward, playback, stop and recording. The buttons for controlling special functions are located in the left control panel of the keypad.
  • The MOT was helpful when cutting.OFF button, which led the tape out of the head carrier area as desired, without being wound up by the right winding motor. Another button, the repeat button - right next to the power button on the far left - contains two functions in one: when pressed, the recording or playback function is interrupted with simultaneous fast rewind, when the button is released, the device is automatically switched to playback. Another important button is the AUTO button. Depending on the programming of the B67, two automatic functions are possible with this. One is rewinding automatically at the end of the tape and then switching to Stop, the second option is fast rewinding after reaching the end of the tape and then playback again. In this operating mode, the STUDER B67 can thus perform its service continuously.
  • All important drive keys of the STUDER B67 are illuminated when the function is switched on. With this VU-Meter B67, the controllers of the recording and playback signals are arranged on the right and left of the large, clearly arranged VU-meters. In the "Uncal" position - this is controlled by the small round button below the rotary knobs – the strength of the respective signal is influenced by the knobs, in the "Cal" position – Cal stands for "calibrated" - a fixed studio level is preset. Which signal the level control instruments display is determined in the bar above the rotary knobs. The keys are called Inp(ut), Reprod(uction) and on some machines also sync(synchronization). The SAFE - left button protects against accidental recording and thus deletion of recorded tapes during operation.
  • The head carrier of the STUDER B67 MK II VU is equipped with butterfly heads – separation track 0.75 mm. For stereo operation, butterfly sound heads offer the optimal compromise between the best use of the audio bandwidth and the risk of crosstalk of the tracks.
