Subjective assessment of a lover, which probably would not be shared by everyone like this ;-):
Sonically, the Sony CDP-502 plays IT at the highest level despite its 36 years. Clear highs, clean bass, great mids. Better than the Sony XA50 ES and Sony 557ESD. However, the capacitors should be replaced professionally after 36 years and also the two belts. A really fascinating CD player with audiophile experience. According to my tests and comparisons even better than a Sony CDP 779ES! Disadvantage of the player is difficult to get and still expensive.
