The predecessors of the A-509R are A-405R and A-407R. With the A- 407R came with the new front panel design, the A-509R is distinguished from the A-407R by the surround-back mode and the small improvements of the A-x09er series (stabilizers). The performance data remained the same. The A-505R and A-605R gave rise to the A-607R, these three have a toroidal transformer.

Surround back mode for surround receiver. Pressing the DIRECT button for three seconds activates this mode. The amplifier no longer responds to the remote control. The LED of the volume control turns off. If you set the volume control to the center position, the device works as power amplifiers, which amplifies the signal applied to LINE/SB with a sensitivity of 1V.
The A-x09er series is a slightly improved A-x07er series (stabilizers); in principle, the A-x09er devices are the MkII versions of A-x07. The A-x07 devices are the first series with the current f13e3963c9624dbc775c57d41fbe61ab Hi-fi design. Not all A-x07 amps have been replaced by A-x09er versions. Thus, the A-307R and A-607R are still manufactured and sold as such.
