Tuners are radio receivers without amplifiers. At the output you will find the demodulated audio signal with line level. In contrast, a receiver has additionally integrated an integrated amplifier, so that loudspeakers can be connected directly. An intermediate solution is the rather rare preceiver, which consists of a tuner and a preamplifier and must be supplemented by power amplifiers.
In a more general sense, the term tuner also refers to the receiving module in televisions, video recorders, etc.
