HIFI SECRET TIP! KENWOOD LS-990 speakers are true high-enders!
The woofers and midrange drivers are equipped with Alnico magnets like the tweeters (JBL Ringradiator)!
The design of the 70s is typical of how timelessly well done and built very high quality for eternity!
Just the interaction with my amplifier, "also" from KENWOOD: Model KA-3300D, harmonizes perfectly and the 33cm bass (solid aluminum basket) gets a new dimension.
The sound field as a whole is very pronounced and leaves nothing to be desired, no matter what kind of music you are playing.
Their size and the weight per loudspeaker of about 27 kg underline the whole thing again (not too big and not too heavy), for rooms from 20 sqm to about 60 sqm.
Too bad for party boxes, although they would serve their purpose very well.
For such speakers with this structure and equipment, you would easily pay 2000, - € per speaker today.
These KENWOOD were already produced in Japan between 1977 and 1978 only in small quantities.
The specifications of 100Watts at 8643961b8da111c0a15d770a1109a86d4 are real watts and can also be operated with a tube amplifier. By today's standards, this would correspond to about 200 watts of power.
So, if you have the LS-990 once, then you will certainly not give it away anymore for sound reasons.
I am lucky and have owned them for several years already. I am still very excited by the sight and the sound.
For a better understanding, I have been able to audibly compare numerous other well-known high-end speakers, e.g. the YAMAHA NS-1000 or ONKYO SC-901 as a benchmark, and I was always amazed by the LS-990.
Conclusion for comparison: almost no tonal differences in the characteristics were found. So the same league as above already compared the named Yamaha NS-10 00, etc.
Unfortunately, it will be very difficult to find them in a good to very good condition if you go in search of the rare LS-990. I can only recommend the Kenwood LS-990 to everyone!
