JBL Press release: JBL is celebrating its 70th anniversary this year and is re-launching a limited edition of a classic from 1968 on this occasion. The original model was called JBL 4310 and its later successors 4311 and 4312, and the anniversary edition is called 4312 SE (for Special 70th Anniversary Edition). In case shape and dimensions it corresponds to the original from the 60s, but its case has been additionally braced and stiffened, and it is equipped with current chassis: the bass driver comes from the expensive model 4429 and has a voice coil made of aluminum flat wire. Its membrane, as in the original, is coated in white. For the midrange, a chassis with a polymer-coated cellulose membrane and a light textile bead is responsible, and the tweeter has a membrane made of aluminum-magnesium alloy and a sound guide. Heights and mids can be adjusted on two rotary knobs. Each pair of JBL 4312 SE is accompanied by a certificate with the individual serial number. The huge JBL logo is clearly emblazoned on the sidewalls of the box – "as befits a real men's speaker," JBL writes. The price: 2,880 euros per pair.
