Such a terrible criticism can only be written by someone whose ears are playing pranks. The A 903 is 1A! With something like that, Grundig should have stayed, and with the 9000 series. A switch that has been corroded after 20 years is not the world. A little oscillin of Teslanol, and the world is again wonderful at contact. And blades do these Grundig s with the wooden side parts anyway irreproachable. A top amplifier!!! Ralph

Have had the A-903 for about 20 years now and use it with the CD player, the tuner and the cassette deck (!) the A-903 or 905 series and a dual turntable. He gets everything out of classical, jazz and sometimes hard rock. The amplifier works and sounds as good on my JBL HP 430 today as it did on the first day. Only the light that illuminates the selector switches has broken once. I am still very satisfied and can only recommend the A-903.

The A-903 is a good-sounding, high-quality amplifier of the upper middle class. Good copies are currently (11/2011) available for 60-150 euros. This is a great price / performance ratio. As with the 9000 and 9009 series, the standard error is cold solder joints, especially on the output board, as well as curing thermal paste and electrolytic capacitors (affected by the development of heat). As a prophylaxis, it is recommended to unscrew, clean and make the hybrid final stages and everything else related to thermal grease fit for the next 20 years. Changing the lighting bulbs is associated with some frivolity, especially since the design used there is nowhere to get. Other lamps have to be taken here, in which you have to lengthen the legs. Hobbyists also like to take LEDs and rebuild the whole thing, then there is peace and quiet for all time. Otherwise, the adjusters installed in the A-903 are of such high quality that nothing has to be scratched even with a 20-year-old, well-maintained device. Since I already had several in my hand, which even today run buttery soft and without scratching. A real hi-Fi tip for a small price! (OSi-12/2011)

It should also be mentioned that the amplifier reacts quite sensitively when 4 ohm speakers are connected to the 8 ohm output. The high currents are quickly acknowledged by the power amplifier with a total failure. Although the power amplifiers are still available, this is always annoying. For an emergency, it is also sufficient to connect two load resistors 3.9 ohms in series to the boxes.
