The The device was tested in the magazine "Audio" in January 1982 (with 3 other amplifiers) and scored as the best device based on the Phono-MM input source. Only with Phono MovingCoil input source the Pioneer A-6 was a little better.
A report by the then Yamaha service manager Gernot Osburg about the amplifier and the technology of the X power supply appeared in the Funkschau 3/1981.
This Yamaha model is affected by the problem of the bursting of a Rifa suppression capacitor in the power supply and will be modified free of charge by Yamaha in a recall campaign in 2007 (now Wima suppression capacitor). The damage to my device did not occur until 2018, so 37 years after purchase: Yamaha still took over the free repair ! Here the customer is still highly respected !
