  • The PS-X75 must probably be considered the successor to the Sony PS-B 80, although both were built almost at the same time. The X75 has been revised in terms of reliability and price, especially the Biotracerarm. This has been significantly simplified. Thus, some of the automatic functions (zero balance, anti-skating) were eliminated or simplified (recognition of the plate format). The electronic display of the contact force also gave way to a conventional scale, the memory and needle cleaning functions completely disappeared. However, the main functions of the biotracer were retained and there were even practical improvements! Thus, during manual control, the tonearm first moved slowly for 0.5 s, after which it accelerated to normal speed. This greatly facilitated the precise control of certain points on the plate. This was not the case with the B80! All in all, these measures have led to the desired commercial success, to this day. The PS-X75 model was and still is the top model of all Sony HiFi turntable generations and, in contrast to the somewhat hapless and technically vulnerable tangential players PS-X555ES and PS-X800, is considered extremely robust and durable. Well-preserved devices, if they are offered at all, will find a new lover quite quickly.
