Press release: Sony is launching a vinyl turntable for the first time in years with the PS-HX500. The chassis consists of a 30 mm thick base with insulating feet. The cast aluminum turntable is driven by a belt motor with two speeds. The device is equipped with an integrated phono preamplifier, so it can be operated at a normal line input of an amplifier.
You can connect the PS-HX500 to the PC via USB to digitize vinyls. Sony wants to provide its own software for restoring and archiving a record collection. The music can be stored in any format – the turntable also digitizes in high resolution with 24 bits or in the Direct Stream Digital (DSD) originally known from the SAC D with up to 5.6 MHz (1-bit ΔΣ conversion).
