The two Pioneer turntable PL-600 PL-600 X are identical and differ only by the different housing color. They represent the successor device to the PL-630, now with mature electronics and without the known shortcomings of the predecessor. Their chassis is made of solid aluminum, and the tonearm is even adjustable in height (VTA). The drive motor of the PL-600 / PL-600 X is one of the best among direct drives.

fully automatic operation and direct drive are superior to other drive systems: The main reason for the use of the direct drive in the turntables from Pioneer high speed precision, the features of this drive system. The turntable is driven directly by the motor with the help of an ordinary motor shaft and therefore rotates at the same speed as the motor rotor, which is exactly 33 ⅓ or 45 rpm. This design dispenses with all reduction gears (gears, belts, friction wheels, etc.), so that the most reliable operation is ensured. The synchronism fluctuations - one of the most important indicators of the speed precision of the turntable - are really no more than 0,025 % on the PL-600.
