There are rumors that later discount models will be of a simpler design. Identification marks should be a tweeter taken from the lower series Odeon and the surround bipoles (silk black instead of gray, no felt ring) and a simpler speaker terminal. This brought the solidly constructed original model into disrepute due to poor sound experiences with the later model.
Whether this is really the case has never been officially clarified and is to be regarded as a rumor!
more models of the series
The rumor is true! The tweeter of my Mythos Center 1 comes from the Odeon series, and the speaker terminal is a different one(compared to pictures from an old "home theater" review). I own a complete mythos set: (2x) Mythos 500, Mythos Center 1, (2x) Mythos 300. The three models all have different tweeters:
Mythos Center 1 :no felt ring, DOME = not translucent, deep black, slightly flatter dome (Odeon series) Mythos 500 :with felt ring, DOME = not translucent, dark grey Mythos 300 :with felt ring, DOME = Slightly translucent, grey
The set sounds tonally little playing together. The center sounds worst in interaction with the other two models. The center also leaves a lot to be desired in terms of language intelligibility. At that time it was a CHEAP new purchase, the whole set for under 700,- Euro. However, I am satisfied with the price / performance ratio.
