The Heco Reflex 30 is NOT a RFT BR50 in column form, as can often be read out of ignorance  !

The BR50 is a real (and only) 3-way box of the Geithain series (see below) with the following equipment:

Tweeter RFT L7104 Midrange RFT L7113 woofer 2x RFT L7114

The midrange L7113 is equipped with a shorter voice coil and together with the crossover for the emission of medium frequencies designed, in the BR50 this midrange works acoustically shielded by a separate housing.

The Heco Reflex 30 is a 2.5-way box with the following equipment:

Tweeter RFT L7104 Woofer RFT L7114 Woofer 2x RFT L7116

The woofers L7116 are equipped with an extended voice coil in order to be able to radiate lower frequencies better. The L7114 (which is used as a woofer in the BR50) is used here as a woofer via a correspondingly calculated crossover, but does NOT have the frequency characteristic of the L7113 of the BR50. All 3 chassis work (unlike in the BR50) in the same housing volume.

An acoustic comparison of both speakers leads to the following assessment:

The b000db3d031f6c278824afeb2dabdfb9 have (due to the larger housing volume, the double bass reflex tubes at the back and the special woofers L7116) a significantly better draft than the BR50 and do not require subwoofer support. The clarity of the reproduction in the mid-frequency range (e.g. vocal parts) is much better with the BR50, it sounds "clearer and fresher", but has much less depth and should be supplemented by a separate subwoofer.

Both the BR50 and the Heco are developments of the VEB Musikelektronik Geithain, production of the chassis at the VEB Energiekombinat Frankfurt/Oder. The production of the Heco was taken over by the "West German" manufacturer Heco in the course of the economic upheavals of 1989/90.

All boxes equipped with the Geithain chassis (BR25, BR26, BR50, BR2725, BR3750, d01f49a28714e1c7795c87327a097c14, b000db3d031f6c278824afeb2dabdfb9) are characterized by very good locatability, as the development work of the "legendary" professional studio monitors RL-900 by MEG company founder Joachim Kiesler was incorporated into the chassis.
