The Five Active was specially designed for the FineArts tube preamplifier and was only produced in a very small number. The Five Active is almost a further development of the older and much cheaper Monolith 90. All technical data are identical, the housing of the Five corresponds to that of the Three. The chassis arrangement of the midrange and tweeters and the woofers are also different from the Monolith 90. Grundig had never launched its own tube power amplifier for the PreTube on the market. The active loudspeakers were therefore a necessary addition to the preamplifier. However, after a short time, a cooperation was established with the German high-end manufacturer Restek for the distribution of a power amplifier (the Restek Event) and a phono preamplifier (the Restek Esthet). The devices were taken from the regular Restek program and were given the suffix "dedicated to FineArts".
