There are actually 2 different specifications regarding the efficiency, namely 83 dB and 86 dB. The company Elac itself indicates in the then brochure of the 250 4 pi an efficiency of 83 dB at 1 watt / 1 meter. On the FTP server of Elac there is the specification 86 dB in the product archive. It can be agreed that the efficiency is rather to be classified as low, regardless of the difference of 3 dB. Certainly, the 250 requires 4pi powerful power amplifiers, which not only from about 150 watts (120 watts were specified at that time), but the power amplifiers should also be able to cope with the low impedance of only a little more than 2 ohms.
