Features of the Dynaudio Contour S 3.4:
The housing of the Contour S 3.4 is specifically reinforced by bracing to achieve an absolutely vibration-free construction. Inside, the MDF walls are coated with compacted damping material at critical points, which absorbs even the smallest resonances. Together with the elaborate baffle construction, a high-strength unit is created, refined by the finely ground surface of a wood veneer. An innovative base plate guarantees a safe and perfectly shaped installation. Recessed threaded sleeves allow a sensitive spike adjustment from above and thus allow a perfect alignment. The crossover rests in the small base, the connection between the solid base plate and the housing body. This arrangement brings extremely short distances to the WBT terminals. Due to the optimal location outside the sound field, sensitive components are not tempted to resonate in a disturbing way. The new Esotec tweeter proves to be extremely resilient and highly precise due to a powerful double magnet system. The gloss on the filigree dome reveals a noble origin: the fabric is coated and thus guarantees the typical resolution in the high-frequency range - free of peaks above 20 kHz, as other materials show due to the system. The high-frequency range is complemented by two powerful low-midrange drivers, the legendary Esotar, which represent a large diaphragm area with a double drive and can thus dissolve even complex, low-frequency-rich structures and reproduce them with a solid foundation. The two midrange drivers are firmly connected to a heavy, five-millimeter-thick metal plate on the front. The Danes thus prevent unwanted movement; normal wooden sound walls are often not up to the immense acceleration forces of the membranes. The metal plate is firmly screwed to the housing – cushioned by a damping layer. So the whole box is additionally calmed down. An exact recess has been milled into the metal plate for the Esotec tweeter. This means that the vibrations of the basses are not transmitted to the sensitive tweeter via the metal plate. The tweeter itself sits relatively far down. With this (also visually striking) trick, Dynaudio developer Mark Thorup corrects the runtime differences between the voice coils: that of the low midrange driver sits significantly further back than that of the tweeter.
