The devices were developed and produced under the leadership of the French Thomson Group. In the eighties, he bought several German manufacturers and their trademark rights (Nordmende , Telefunken , Saba). The devices were still built at Dual in St. Georgen. Even after the takeover by Schneider Rundfunkwerke AG at the end of the eighties, the model remained in the program and was extended by a noble version (Golden One). It was the reference device within the device series of that time.

The turntable CS 5000 is a really successful device. The slightly older devices of this series have a shortcoming in my opinion. The turntable axis is not grounded. Even relatively small overvoltages, such as a burned-out incandescent lamp near the turntable generates them, can lead to irreparable damage to the processor (in my experience, a replacement for the processor cannot be found). The subsequent grounding of the turntable axis is relatively simple and immediately apparent when the turntable is removed. In my case, I had no choice but to look for a usable defective device.
