The 1249 has the same "flywheel" belt drive with a subteller (ALU) attached to the axle and a turntable resting on it as the older 601 single player.
However, due to the changing axis, it has a weaker plate bearing.
Also, the zinc die casting on the 601 has given way to the aluminum die casting on the 1249.
The tonearm of the 1249 has been revised compared to the 601 and has a very low bearing friction and a counter-oscillator in counterweight, which allows a high scanning capability and safe scanning even of pickups that actually require a tonearm with a lower effective mass for optimal operation.
Like all pre-ULM arms (Ultra Low Mass) from Dual , the arm of the 1249 belongs to the lighter medium-weight arms with an effective mass of ~ 12gr. incl. Subheadshell (TK).
The motor is an 8-pole. AC synchronous motor without servo electronics (SM840).
The speed fine adjustment is done mechanically by spreading a slotted drive roller and is very sensitive.
The drive and tonearm are qualitatively superior to current dual models (CS-455,505-4).
The factory-installed pickup was chosen with regard to the changeover function and is well below the possibilities of the device.
MCs are also no problem unless they are explicitly designed for heavy arms.
Low-capacitive tonearm wiring and original connection cables.
The long-term speed drift is lower than with the DUAL direct drives at a (relatively)constant ambient temperature.
After this model was still very cheap in the used market for a long time (~ 100-150€), the prices are
