  • When considering a purchase, the low-frequency beads made of foam should be checked, since they have almost certainly disintegrated after 37 years (see a picture below). Repair is possible without any problems, but it should be done by a professional. According to my own very good experience, Mr. Hebermehl is expressly recommended here.
  • Since the grilles have to be removed for inspection, I recommend patience and a clean wide spatula with which the grating is carefully detached from the baffle. With careful processing from all sides, the grid will come off the rubbery mass. If too much force is used, the grids are quickly crooked.
  • The L 620/1 is a high-quality HiFi loudspeaker combination for stand or shelf operation with a wide beam angle in a closed, acoustically damped housing. It was designed by Braun AG as a shelf box and designed for medium and high power amplifiers. Suitable for medium-sized and large rooms and preferably recommended for installation in shelf and wall shelves.
  • Very good spatial image. Good depth gradation and locatability for a 3-way box with a wide radiation at a relatively small net volume (15 liters). Very natural reproduction of voices and acoustic instruments. Equally suitable for lovers of classical music, jazz and any instrumental music. Amazingly deep bass reproduction with sufficient bass precision. Sound character can be called brilliant without disturbing the midrange. Due to the good efficiency, this box is already "there" at room volume. An advantage that should not be underestimated if you do not want to force your surroundings to listen
  • It is strongly recommended not to castrate this box by placing it on shelves. Even if this was the advertised place of use at the time, the L620 can play out its potential on stands with enough distance to the back wall. The box is thus able to produce sufficient deep bass if necessary, but gains in transparency and neutrality. It is also not suitable for wall mounting like some other Braun boxes of this era (keyword L550). However, the L620 is acoustically superior to these. A qualitative classification will certainly take place in the vicinity of the "big" sister L 710 without completely achieving its bass precision.
