The DM 2A are studio monitors, which were specially used in recording studios to achieve neutral playback. The sound cannot be compared with Hifi speakers, as the latter add their own sound (by their own resonance) due to their design. The DM 2A was optimized to zero self-resonance by using the so-called transmission line (TL) design. You can have the boxes played back very loudly: the 20 kg box does not vibrate when touched. The sound comes only through the built-in speakers and is not distorted. For a musician, it is a very good box, because the signal almost originally corresponds to the live experience in a recording studio when recording. Tested with Marantz 2270 Receiver - Marantz specification from 1973: 70 watts, increased to 90 watts of continuous power many years later by endurance tests of an American trade magazine. A few audio samples: Pink Floyd - Dark Side Of The Moon , Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young - 4Way Street, Dire Straits - Dire Straits, Beethoven - Pastorale (Symphony No. 6), Shadows - Greatest Hits. Every instrument sounds unadulterated and even live concerts are played in such a way that you think you are present at the recording. High-quality Hifi speakers, on the other hand, caress the human ear and add more "airiness" to the sound event. However, this is not the sound event that the damailgen musicians had. By the way, a huge advantage of the TL design is that you can easily position these boxes in room corners.
